About Us

History

Rotaract originally began as a Rotary International youth program in 1968 at Charlotte North Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, and has grown into a major Rotary-sponsored organization of over 10,904 clubs with over 250,792 members in 184 countries. It is a leadership and community service organization for young men and women between the ages 18–30. “Rotaract” stands for “Rotary in Action”, although the name originally comes from a combination of “Rotary” and “Interact” (International + Action), the high school level programme created by Rotary International in 1962.

Brief Club History

The Rotaract Club of Tema Meridian is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tema Meridian and have been duly chartered among various Clubs of Rotary District 9104. The Club was officially chartered on the 25th August, 2015 with club ID 212702. The Club since its inauguration has participated in Rotary’s global activities and has undertaken numerous projects and programs with projects ranging from reading clinics, blood donation etc. The Rotaract Club of Tema Meridian has established its position as a service organization. The success attained by the Rotaract Club of Tema Meridian is attributable to the teamwork of its members and to the Rotary ideal of "service above self".

  1. Club Service focuses on making clubs strong. A thriving club is anchored by strong relationships and an active membership development plan.
  2. Vocational Service calls on all Rotaractors to work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of society.
  3. Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life of people in their communities and to serve the public interest.
  4. International Service exemplifies our global reach in promoting peace and understanding. We support this avenue by sponsoring or volunteering on international projects, using local member expertise to build long-term partnerships for sustainable projects, seeking service partners abroad, and more.
  5. Youth Service recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs such as Rotaract, Interact, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, and Rotary Youth Exchange.
